I’ve always been a girl who relies on makeup to help me get to the look I want, so I’ll be completely honest, I’m self-taught, I still have a lot to learn! Since the beginning of 2020, I have found that I have always taken my skin for granted. I think I can completely ignore my skin and hope that my makeup can cover up all the big imperfections. For example, I want to be able to wear makeup, moisturize every once in a while, clean my face everywhere, and in return, I want my skin to be radiant every day without any pimples or wrinkles.
I’ve collected the 10 most effective TikTok skincare tips to try what really works for me.
1. Sunscreen
I realize that this may sound like a matter of course to a lot of people, but growing up, I didn’t get sunburned very often, so I never worried about the need to wear sunscreen. This may seem like an annoying and often expensive additional cost. Now I realize that regardless of your skin color, regardless of the season, sunscreen should be a staple of your morning routine. Sunscreen should be placed on top of a moisturizer, which is a product that you should use in large quantities.
2. Cleanser
I have a good rule in life, and if the steps are too complicated, I will most likely not stick to them. I’ve loved the convenience of disposable makeup wipes for years, and that’s how I cleanse my face every night. I started to realize that these makeup wipes could barely remove my makeup or even clean my skin properly. Some of the hottest trends on TikTok include double cleaning, which is impressive. I bought a cleanser, which wasn’t as much trouble as I thought, and I do feel like I’m going to sleep with a clean face every night.
3. Retinol
Retinol seems like a miracle product that can help your skin in a number of ways, including uneven texture, dark spots, and aging skin. I started using retinol to combat fine lines, which looked less fine and more worrisome every time I used Zoom calls. I think using retinol is really a long-term strategy, and I plan to continue using it regularly to help prevent wrinkles and improve existing wrinkles.
Many people advocate using retinol only a few days a week and then always using a moisturizer. Luckily, I didn’t have any problems, added it to my daily routine and now use it every night.
4. Toner
I love how easy it is to use toners, but toners can meet the needs of your daily life with a variety of effects. In my daily life, I find that toners help remove excess dirt or makeup. Toner is also a great way to moisturize and is also said to help treat sunburn and bug bites. Now, in my cart I have a product that minimizes pores, it is very important to choose a toner that suits your needs. This video helps break down how to use toner most effectively.
5. Moisturizer
The holy grail of skincare is moisturizing! Moisturizers are very important for both your face and your body. When it comes to facial moisturizers, there are several different types depending on your needs, and your needs will also change with age or season. This is a product that people like to try more. This video helps explain the differences in moisturizers and how to find the best one for you.
6. Liquid Exfoliator
Liquid exfoliators are a gentler exfoliation process, but I’m going to warn you that it can cause you to rub your skin incredibly hard. Liquid exfoliation is another step in your daily routine and should be done slowly to ensure that the skin has enough time to recover. There are plenty of affordable products that are loved by many TikTok users.
7. Argentine Programme
TikTokers called it Botox bottled, and I had to agree. I obviously have the so-called “11s”, those angry wrinkles between my eyebrows that make my expression forever harsh. These words have made me think about Botox for a long time over the past few months. I thought I should try this Argentine solution and I was impressed – within a few weeks of using it, my deep wrinkles improved significantly. I know not everyone is bothered by these angry wrinkles, but this can also work wonders for wrinkles.
8. Lactic Acid
As a newbie to a good skincare routine, I’ve never heard of lactic acid, but it’s all over TikTok. If your skin is prone to acne, lactic acid can be very useful as it helps remove all dead skin and makes your skin more radiant. The video really helps explain why you should try it but don’t use it every night.
9. Vitamin C
I thought vitamin C originally meant just a refreshing glass of orange juice in the morning, but now it’s a must-have step in your skin care. Vitamin C is believed to have great benefits for the skin, including brightening the complexion, reducing blemishes, and improving the complexion. This video shows how difficult it is to find quality vitamin C products, but breaks down what to look for.
10. The Right Order
Each product has its own instructions for use, but one thing TikTok has taught me is that less is more (for everything other than sunscreen) and that the order in which you apply a product is very important to make sure your skin absorbs it properly. It’s a great video that walks you through each step, but for the Cliff Notes version, the lighter/thinner the serum or cream, the sooner you should use it in your routine.
